Postdoctoral Researcher in Machine Learning 100% (in collaboration with Google Research, Zurich) in Zürich

This research group is looking for you!

Jobbeschreibung

ETH Zurich is one of the world’s leading universities specialising in science and technology. It is renowned for its excellent education, its cutting-edge fundamental research and its efforts to put new knowledge and innovations directly into practice.
We have several open positions for postdoctoral researchers in machine learning at the Institute for Machine Learning (IML) and associated labs. The IML is a major center of excellence in Europe with seven faculty members and more than 60 doctoral and postdoctoral researchers. Positions come with competitive funding for three years and offer an attractive research environment at ETH and Google. Candidates are expected to spend a significant part of their time (25-50%) at Google Research in Zurich to engage with research teams and to help coordinate and advance research collaborations. Dependent on candidate profile and area this will be implemented via co-appointments or through an existing institutional agreement. There are also opportunities to get involved with the Max Planck-ETH Center for Intelligent Systems and to actively participate in ongoing and evolving initiatives in Artificial Intelligence on the national and European level.

Candidates are expected to develop an independent research agenda, ideally founded in solid theory and mathematical methodology, but with a drive to solve problems of (practical) relevance and impact. Duties also include a light teaching load and involvement in activities at the Institute for Machine Learning at ETH. The starting date is flexible, but an earlier start date is preferred. The salary is highly competitive on a global scale.
We look forward to receiving your online application including a letter of motivation, CV (including a list of publications), certificate of PhD degree or statement by thesis advisor (expected graduation date), short research statement (one to at most two pages), three names of references (no letters need to be submitted). The screening and selection process will start 31 May 2019, but strong applications will be considered until 30 June 2019. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal. Applications via email or postal services will not be considered.
