Postdoctoral Researcher in Production and Operations Management in Zürich

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a background in operations management or general management, who would like to contribute to the Chair of Production and Operations Management (POM) at ETH Zurich. The primary criteria for employment is research at a high level of scientific quality, measured by potential for near-future publications in top POM or general management journals (e.g., Financial Times top-50 journals). The Chair of POM welcomes applications in related empirical domains (strategic management or innovation management), but excluding mathematical modelling/OR.

The Chair of POM at ETH Zurich conducts empirical and innovative POM research with high relevance. Our purpose is to deliver research that matters and teaching that inspires with the determination of developing better operations in industry and society. The current focus areas of the Chair of POM are: (1) Operational excellence and process innovation Lean, quality management, organizational routines, dynamic capabilities, agile, behavioral issues; (2) Industry 4.0 and digital transformation of manufacturing Digital strategies and application of new technologies in POM (e.g. AI, 3D printing, IoT, drones); (3) International operations management configuration, coordination and improvement of global production networks.
The Chair of POM is part of the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics (D-MTEC), which houses a world-class faculty. ETH Zurich regularly features in international rankings as one of the best universities in the world and the leading university in continental Europe. ETH is situated in the heart of Europe with excellent research facilities, infrastructure, and quality of life.

The main activity of the position is research within the field of empirical production and operations management, with emphasis on publishing in top general management and POM journals (for example, JOM, POM, M&SOM, Management Science, AMJ, SMJ, etc.). The candidate can expect limited teaching and service duties. The position will help the candidate advance his/her academic career. We offer a full-time position with a competitive salary.
