The unit Cargo Procurement & Supplier Management ensures the sourcing, compliance and performance for all products and services offered by Swiss WorldCargo throughout all steps of the transport chain.

We are looking to strengthen our Cargo Procurement & Supplier Management Team with a Cargo Category Manager (Strategic Purchaser) to support our stations and internal stakeholders in all aspects of procurement and supplier management, as well as performance and quality monitoring of our cargo handling agents worldwide. In this position, which is embedded in a matrix organization, you will also closely cooperate with the LH Group outstations, departments as well as handling agents.

 

Your duties

  • Perform strategic sourcing, including identification of possible suppliers, tendering, evaluation and supplier selection as well as supplier relationship management
  • Lead and coordinate purchasing projects in collaboration with different stakeholders.
  • Manage total cost of ownership of assigned category / commodity and drive corrective measures
  • Implement contracts and ensure communication / handover to all responsible stakeholders
  • Lead exchange with operational procurement
  • Lead supplier performance evaluation (qualitative / quantitative)
  • Liaise with legal department to record contractual obligation
  • Track supplier performance and manage conflict if escalated
  • Organize and lead supplier review (participate in LHG supplier review meetings)
  • Partner with LHG Category Management according Operating Model of category
  • Contribute to and engage in LHG Category Management initiatives and projects
  • Represent SWISS within LHG procurement organization
Your profile
  • Bachelor degree and / or 3-5 years of experience in an operational function within the Cargo Airline Industry, i.e. Cargo Airline or as Cargo Handling Agent in an operational duty or experienced in logistics and procurement
  • Customer and Quality oriented mind set – experienced in procurement & supplier management processes
  • Good knowledge of Cargo products and processes, the Air Cargo industry and its requirements
  • Fluent in German and English; other additional language skills are an asset
  • Solution and result orientated, problem solver in an efficient way
  • High level of attention to detail, with affinity to number
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a team as well as under time pressure
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and at ease of working with IT systems
  • Ability to develop cross-functional partnership and strategies
  • Willingness to travel (20%) with cultural affinity
