Internship in Medical Device Complaint Investigation Unit in Zug

The Position

The Complaint Investigation Unit team in Rotkreuz provides root cause investigations to customer complaints within Roche Molecular Diagnostics for testing in commercial and hospital labs. Our in-depth root cause investigations provide the information necessary to continuously improve our products and assure patient safety.

In this position you will be working alongside technical investigation experts and, under their guidance, you will assist them in identifying root causes and causal factors of customer complaints.

Your main tasks would include: ​

• Under the guidance of experienced technical experts, assist in detailed technical investigations
• Under guidance, identify root causes and causal factors to enable solutions to be developed
• Read and analyze application log files from instruments
• Read and analyze programming code files from instruments
• Scientific documentation of complaint investigations, e.g. test plan, proof of statistical relevance, documentation of methodology, conclusion and traceability of an investigation
• May represent and communicate results of individual cases/issues in interfacing meetings, and may participate in task forces, e.g. projects focused on implementing improvements identified
• Maintain own formal training up to date (highly regulated industry requirement)

Ideally, you fulfill the following criteria:

• You are currently enrolled as a Bachelor or Master student or have recently graduated (within the last 12 months) in the field of Engineering, Information Technology or related fields
• You have a detailed-oriented working style and the ability to effectively prioritize tasks
• Engineering education (e.g. healthcare equipment, automation, firmware)
• Very good general software knowledge and C# or C++ basic knowledge
• Excellent spoken and written English, knowledge of German advantageous
• Critical thinking - reasoning abilities, analyze, assess and improve
• Technical support soft skills - communicative, flexible, problem-solving mindset
