PhD position in ultrafast terahertz time-domain spectroscopy on strongly correlated systems in Zürich

This research group is looking for you!

Jobbeschreibung

The Multifunctional Ferroic Materials group of Prof. Manfred Fiebig is located at the Department of Materials Science in ETH Zurich and is one of the leading research groups employing nonlinear laser spectroscopy on highly correlated materials. The aim of the PhD project is to investigate the physics of highly correlated material systems with ultrafast nonlinear and terahertz time-domain spectroscopy techniques. The low photon energy of the terahertz radiation fosters investigation of electronic states and carrier dynamics via resonant excitation and detection at ultrafast time scales.
The PhD candidate will use this novel technique to understand the nature of ultrafast carrier dynamics in a wide range of strongly correlated material systems. This position offers the PhD student with opportunities to familiarize themselves with the cutting-edge terahertz time domain and terahertz nonlinear spectroscopy techniques, their fundamental principles and their versatility in investigating new materials.
We look forward to receiving your online application with a letter of motivation for this position, a CV including publications and presentations, copy of transcripts documenting educational background and contact details of two referees (optional), as a single pdf file via the following link: .
