Business Intelligence Data Scientist (80-100%, all genders) in Zürich

Business Analytics Revenue Management and Distribution (HD/BZ), provides Business Intelligence (BI) for the Revenue Management (RM), Distribution and Payment process. We ensure the alignment with, and support the execution of, the functional RM, Distribution and Payment processes and ensure integrity with the overall commercial BI processes. We are in the drive for a consistent commercial data model with aligned KPI definitions. 

As Business Intelligence Data Scientist, you design and continuously align standard reports for commercial decision support in the operational teams, for HD management and for the commercial board. You also provide guidance for process owners and steering units with sound performance measure KPIs and reports. Furthermore, you deliver business insights and measure strategic business goals based on ad-hoc analysis, develop predictive analytics, produce technical HD forecasts and HD commercial budget figures using sound statistical models. 

In your role you closely cooperate with operational HD teams, Controlling, BI teams of the other processes and with IT by delivering requirements on data sources. You drive LHG BI improvements by leading or representing HD in BI related projects. 

The position is based in Zurich, while the team and interfaces are distributed over the Lufthansa Group Hubs. You report to the Head of Business Analytics Revenue Management and Distribution (HD/BZ) located in Zurich.

Your duties

• Continuously and proactively identify drivers of performance and business insights by BI tools, analyze impacts of taken actions to give deep analytical insight to the different stakeholders
• Define, implement and measure process KPIs and conduct process performance measurement cycles
• Design standard report portfolio with optimal layouts for management and operational teams to enable data-based decision making
• Implement statistical forecast models and compute technical budgets
• Compute and measure business cases for new ideas and projects
• Define aligned LHG commercial data model. Lead and/or push the HD needs in the different BI relevant projects (e.g. CCM project)
• Functional leadership of project members in role of project leader
• Continuously update analytical and methodical skills

• University degree (Master) in mathematics, information technology, engineering, economics or similar
• Relevant working experience in commercially applied analytics, econometrical modeling and statistical software (e.g. R, python)
• Experience in reporting/visualization software, ideally Tableau
• Experience in data warehousing and in relational as well as unstructured data environments
• Proven SQL skills
• High project management skills and profound experience in workshop management
• Good written and verbal communication skills and ability to work in cross cultural environments
• Excellent conceptual capabilities, able to analytically break-down and solve complex problems with high focus on implementation
• Written and spoken fluency in English, and preferably also in German
• Proven team player as well as ability to work independently and unsupervised
• Willingness to travel (mostly between the LHG Hubs)
• Working experience in the aviation industry would be an advantage, as well as knowledge about RM, Distribution or Payment processes
