Role Summary/Purpose The OTR Project Cost Control intern supports the Cost Control COE in the collection and analysis of the $31BN Project variable cost. He/she analyzes budget variances, operational drivers and supports the collection of budget updates. He/she partners with the Project finance managers and functional cost owners to optimize and fix cost estimation processes.
Essential Responsibilities · Drive process improvement of actual cost flow by working with functional leaders and finance community to understands landscape and current gaps.
· Drive process improvements and standardization across budgeting/cost estimation process
· Serve as a functional Subject Matter Expert when it comes to functional cost i.e. estimate, accumulation and recording
· Data collection of revised project budget lines - analysis and explanation/escalation variance drivers
· Conduct analysis on portfolio/functional cost and margin for leadership reviews
· Analysis actual cost data and allocation cost data by budget line
· Design and work with IT to implement reporting automation solutions
· Organize knowledge sharing to convey information about new approaches and best practices
The role requires strong commitment and flexibility. Precision and attention to details are a prerequisite; the intern will be challenged in her/his ability to perform several tasks in parallel, work autonomously but also coordinate effectively with global stakeholders.
The role offers a unique insight into the workings of a global Power Plant design and installation company, a project budget and tight cost controls required.
Qualifications/Requirements · BA/MSc in Economics, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science and/or Mathematics or equivalent knowledge / experience
· Fluent English
· Excellent MS Office Skills (especially Excel)
· Ability to take responsibility and work independently with little/no supervision
· Open to work in a multicultural, fast paced environment
· Strong numerical skills, attention to detail
· A person with excellent communication skills and “can-do” attitude
Desired Characteristics · Prior working experience in corporate finance, financial modelling
· Prior experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle) is a plus
· Coding skills (R, VBA, Matlab, a.o.) is a plus
