EMPA (European Master of Public Administration Consortium) is a network of European schools, that offer master programs in public administration.
The PhD student is funded as part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Innovative Training Networks under the European Commission’s H2020 programme. He/she will contribute to the project “Soft, self-responsive, smart materials for robots” as early stage researchers (ESRs).

We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a strong background in synthetic organic and polymer chemistry, ability to work in a multidisciplinary field, open to learn new things, and willingness to move countries for ESR placement and temporary secondments. At the time of recruitment, candidates must not have legally resided or have had their main activity in Switzerland for more than 12 months in the last 3 years immediately prior to their recruitment. The PhD candidate needs to be proficient in spoken and written English and has a Master’s degree.
Our offer:
The work will be carried out at Empa Dübendorf under supervision of Dr Dorina Opris. You will be registered as a PhD student either at ETHZ or EPFL. The planned duration for receiving a PhD is four years starting September 2020.
