The Center for Law & Economics () at ETH Zurich has approximately 60 group members from law, economics, political science and computer science. At the Center, Professor Stefan Bechtold invites applications for a Postdoc, PhD student, or Research Fellow in Experimental Research on Innovation and Intellectual Property.
We are looking for an ambitious, highly motivated postdoc, Ph.D. student or research fellow who wants to apply experimental methods (lab, internet, field) to issues of innovation and/or intellectual property (copyright, patent, trademark, design, trade secret protection). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to co-author papers with colleagues from the Center for Law & Economics, engage with faculty from across ETH Zurich and the University of Zurich, and pursue her/his own research agenda in a highly research-focused environment. If the successful candidate is a Ph.D. student, she/he will write a paper-based dissertation in English which will make a contribution to the international law & economics discourse on innovation & intellectual property.

We offer excellent working conditions and an internationally competitive salary (paid according to ). Teaching and administrative duties are limited. We provide support for attending international conferences and workshops, and for research stays abroad. Our offices are located in downtown Zurich, and the working language is English. The initial appointment will be for one or two years and can be renewed. The starting date is flexible.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a master's or Ph.D. degree in law, economics, psychology or a related discipline, with excellent grades. Postdocs and research fellows must have a background and experience with experimental social science research methods (lab, Internet, and/or field). PhD students must have had some exposure to empirical and/or experimental social science research methods.
