Studierende finden an der ETH Zürich ein Umfeld, das eigenständiges Denken fördert, Forschende ein Klima, das zu Spitzenleistungen inspiriert.
The chair of Geosensors and Engineering Geodesy lead by Prof. Dr. Andreas Wieser at the Institute of Geodesy and Photogrammetry (IGP) works on monitoring, geodetic metrology and data analysis. The research focuses on (i) areal monitoring using terrestrial laser scanning and terrestrial radar interferometry, (ii) development and calibration of geodetic measurement systems, and (iii) geodetic foundations for robotic fabrication in construction. For strengthening the team, we plan to hire a postdoc for at least 4 years from 1.1.2021 or another suitable date to be agreed on.
You carry out autonomous research work within the above focus areas, ideally either contributing to the further development of laser scanning technology or to the provision of geodetic foundations for large and long-term construction projects with particularly high quality demands regarding setting out and monitoring. You contribute to the acquisition of projects and third-party funding, expand your research portfolio, and represent the professorship through publications and through presentations at international meetings. You supervise Bachelor and Master students, predominantly in Geospatial Engineering and in Geomatics, and co-supervise doctoral students. You also support the professorship in its teaching activities by developing course contents and teaching methods.
We offer the opportunity to collaborate with partners from within ETH but also from other academic institutions, research institutions, engineering companies, service providers, industry, and from the public sector. You will be part of a dynamic, highly motivated, international team and have access to the exceptional infrastructure at ETH and IGP. You will appreciate the high quality of living in the Zurich area, and the outstanding opportunities for personal and professional development offered by ETH.
You have an academic degree in geodesy, geomatics, or a related discipline and hold a doctorate in an area relevant for the above research and teaching acitivites. You are proactive, responsible, devoted to high quality work, curious and target-oriented. You are able to work in a team and autonomously. You are interested in academic research and teaching. Your English is very good in oral communication and in writing. If your German is not sufficient for teaching at the Bachelor’s level, you will agree to acquire such German speaking skills within the first year of your employment. Practical experience with surveying, geodetic field work and geodetic data processing, as well as programming skills are valuable assets for your application.
