Studierende finden an der ETH Zürich ein Umfeld, das eigenständiges Denken fördert, Forschende ein Klima, das zu Spitzenleistungen inspiriert.
The Radiopharmaceutical Sciences/Biopharmacy Research Group at the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Department of Chemistry and Applied Biosciences at the ETH Zurich (Switzerland) invites applications for a PhD position in the project "Assessing the immune state of cancer and its microenvironment by PET / SPECT imaging".
The tumor microenvironment has a significant impact on cancer progression, metastatic potential and therapy response. We are developing tracers for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Single Photon Computed Tomography (SPECT) to non-invasively image the immune state of cancer and its microenvironment. We hypothesize that imaging of the cancer/microenvironment immune state in preclinical and clinical research will support the development of immune-modulating anti-cancer therapies and will allow monitoring anti-cancer treatments.
The PhD project will be part of a research project funded for 4 years by the Swiss Cancer Research foundation. We offer an international, multidisciplinary work environment and excellent research infrastructure. Compensation will be according to the guidelines of the Swiss National Science Foundation (). Start date is at the earliest convenience.
You will work on the development, synthesis, in vitro and preclinical (including in vivo) characterization of radiolabeled small molecules and peptides/proteins for imaging and will also have involvement in teaching (practical courses for undergraduate students at the D-CHAB).
You should integrate well in a multidisciplinary team with the aim of translating imaging tracers from research to the clinical setting. Experience working with cell culture, molecular cell biology techniques and basic knowledge in chemistry are desirable. Good communication skills in English are required. You should hold a Master's degree in Molecular Medicine, Biomedical Imaging, (Bio-) Chemistry, Pharmaceutical/Medicinal Sciences or a related field. You should have a keen interest in addressing clinical questions – particularly in cancer, medical diagnostic, non-invasive imaging and anti-cancer therapy.
