We are Novartis. Join us and help reimagine medicine. The Functional Genetics team is looking for a highly motivated recent graduate for a 6-months temporary position in 2021. Integrated into a core department of the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research on the main campus in Basel, we apply cutting-edge technology to identify novel therapeutic targets to support projects across the whole organization.
As part of our team, you will contribute to the generation of disease models in a complex 3D cell culture system using in vitro differentiation. You will support the application of that model for phenotypic as well as genetic screening and optimize it for high-throughput applications.
At internal meetings, you will have the chance to present your results, discuss your progress and get an impression about ongoing projects in your immediate environment. As a successful candidate, you have the desire to quickly learn new skills and work flexibly on a challenging and interdisciplinary project. Applications should include a CV and a motivation letter. Minimum requirementsWhat you’ll bring to the role: • Recent graduate in a relevant discipline (Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology or similar) • Experience in iPSC culture and organoid differentiation is a must • BL-2 (biosafety level) experience is a plus • Experience in cryosections and immunofluorescence/confocal imaging is a plus • Knowledge of CRISPR/Cas9 technology • Interest in high-throughput liquid handling and imaging systems • Interest in cell and object-based flow cytometry • Open mind with good communication skills and strong motivation to work independently in an interdisciplinary team • Excellent written and spoken English
