Scientist or a PostDoc (100%) responsible for the development of “Safe and Sustainable by Design (SSbD)” approaches in the frame of the Horizon Europe project IRISS. in Dübendorf

Your Tasks

 

The IRISS project aims to connect and transform the SSbD community in Europe and globally towards a life cycle thinking where there is a holistic integration of safety, climate neutrality, circularity and functionality of materials, products and processes throughout their lifecycle. The uniqueness of IRISS is that the consortium is built of core and network partners that represent the top components needed to build an EU-led permanent network.

 

IRISS has the objectives to develop a state-of-the-art SSbD ecosystem that is supportive for the uptake and utilization of safe-by-design (SbD) and sustainable-by-design (SusbD) strategies by industry, especially SMEs.

 

The successful candidate will coordinate the interaction between Empa and project partners and contribute to the development and application of SSbD approaches and methods. In close interaction with network partners from various fields, e.g. the textile sector, SSbD approaches will be developed and tested for materials and chemicals.

Your profile

• Master Degree or PhD in environmental/natural sciences or engineering
• Experience with risk assessment, life cycle-based methods or sustainability assessment
• Preferably first experiences in any of the following areas: assessment of materials or chemicals, stakeholder analysis and dialogue, roadmaps
• Experience in scientific writing and publishing
• Excellent communication skills and fluency in English (both written and oral)

The position is limited to 3 years.
