Textile engineer for the development of smart, functional clothing systems in Dübendorf

Your tasks

You will work on applied research projects in collaboration with industrial partners as well as research projects related to intelligent textiles. The tasks include the development and design of multi-functional and smart clothing systems as well as the design and integration of textile-based sensors. The fields of application for clothing systems include leisure time activities for well-being as well as clinical applications for health monitoring in patients. You will deal with the various components to be considered for smart clothing including functional fibers and yarns, appropriate fabrics and finishing, the construction and design of clothing systems as well as the characterization of fabrics and garments. You will accomplish your goals as part of an interdisciplinary team of engineers, scientists, students and apprentices collaborating with you. Besides experimental work, your task will be to lead the projects, coordinate the work between different work packages and to develop innovative solutions based on your textile engineering expertise.

Your profile

You must hold a Master degree in textile engineering and preferably have experience with optical and electrically conductive fibers for sensing applications in body monitoring. Previous experience with textile manufacturing processes and functionalication treatments together with a high motivation to work at the leading edge of measurement and material science in international and multidisciplinary research teams are essential. Good English language skills (oral and written) and at a basic German knowledge is required. We expect that you enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team, communicate openly and act proactively and self-responsible.
