Studierende finden an der ETH Zürich ein Umfeld, das eigenständiges Denken fördert, Forschende ein Klima, das zu Spitzenleistungen inspiriert.
The Functional and Molecular Imaging Laboratory, jointly affiliated with the University of Zurich and ETH Zurich, seeks a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to develop new precision imaging tools for neurosurgery and monitoring of ultrasound-based tumour ablation treatments. The team effort includes active collaboration with neurosurgeons from the Lucerne Cantonal Hospital to develop and translate the new methodology into the clinics.
Our Lab is devoted to the development of novel structural, functional, metabolic and molecular imaging systems and methods. State-of-the-art infrastructure for in vivo imaging includes advanced multi-spectral optoacoustic tomography, high-field magnetic resonance scanners, fluorescence microscopy, ultrafast ultrasound, as well as hybrid imaging platforms not available elsewhere. The preclinical phase of the project will focus on studies in small and large animal models, followed by a clinical translation of the new technique.
Prototype system development for clinical use, including optical, ultrasound, electronic/mechanical designs
Software development and testing to control hardware and enable live imaging of ultrasound therapy
Method validation in preclinical models
Coordination with clinical partners and regulatory authorities
PhD degree in physics, biomedical or electrical engineering or related fields
Prior experience in ultrasound and/or optical imaging and therapy methods is a plus
Excellent scientific publication record
Good algorithmic and programming skills
Strong interest in an academic career
Excellent command of English, self-motivation, goal-oriented and positive attitude
2 years postdoctoral position, extendable based on performance and funding situation.
Working in a world-top research institution with an international, multi-disciplinary, highly innovative, well-equipped and scientifically stimulating environment
Collaborating with a team of neurosurgeons to translate cutting-edge biomedical technology into the clinics
Excellent training, career development and exchange opportunities
