Intern in Reagent Development

BGE System Fluids team is a team within the Application Design Department at R&D RDI Rotkreuz. Our expertise belongs to calibrators, controls, diluents, internal solutions and auxiliary fluids for our Blood Gas and Electrolytes (BGE) instruments on the market. The System Fluids team comprises four persons with backgrounds in method development, chemistry, material science and lab-scale production of reagents. We perform multi-disciplinary projects and tasks in the following areas:

  • Development or change of reagent formulations (calibrators, controls, internal solutions)
  • Replacement of raw materials in reagent production
  • Improvements of test methods and Quality Control (QC) methods
  • Reagent unit specifications
  • Evaluation and specification of primary packaging materials
  • Support of operations and regulatory affairs
  • Product care for all system fluids in BGE systems

We work in a close cooperation with other BGE R&D teams, reagent process improvement, reagent production and QC team.

As an intern within BGE System Fluids team you will be involved into the creation of the database on reagent formulations, requirements, QC parameters and applied internal solutions for QC release of reagents. You will learn about:

  • In Vitro Diagnostics reagent requirements

  • QC methods for reagents and method improvements
  • R&D test methods for reagents

To be successful in this role:

  • Either studying or recently graduated (no more than 12 months ago) in Bachelor or Master in Chemistry or Material Science or Material Engineering.
  • You have basic knowledge in Inorganic and/or organic chemistry
  • Experience in analysis of chemicals is a plus
  • You bring Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) knowledge
  • Fluent spoken and written language skills in English and German
  • You would like to learn about IVD reagents and to have hands-on test methods for reagent analysis
