Roche ist ein Arbeitgeber, der die Chancengleichheit fördert.
The Roche Postdoctoral Fellowship (RPF) program is aimed at supporting outstanding young scientists focusing on cooperative R&D projects between Roche and international academic institutions. As Roche Postdoctoral Fellow, you will receive scientific mentoring from both Roche and its academic partners, and gain valuable research experience from both, academic and industrial, perspectives.
Recently, it was demonstrated that the majority of Parkinson's disease patients have at least one putative damaging variant in a lysosomal storage disorder gene. These human genetic studies reinforce the importance of lysosomal mechanisms in Parkinson's disease pathogenesis and subsequent neurodegeneration. Neuron, which are life long-lived, post-mitotic cells, depend on an efficient proteostasis system to maintain cellular health over decades and thus slight perturbations in lysosomal homeostasis can have devastating consequences. However, a better understanding of common lysosomal dysfunction in PD (regional vulnerability) is essential for new therapeutic approaches and the development of efficacious drugs that target lysosome dysfunction in PD. To that end, the goal of the project is identify common mechanisms of lysosomal dysfunction triggered by the pathological oxidation of dopamine accumulation in human PD neurons.
The postdoc position is aimed at addressing key fundamental questions of lysosomal research in neurodegeneration by identifying common mechanisms of lysosomal dysfunction. When you join our international team in an outstanding and competitive scientific environment you will hold several of these primary responsibilities:
This 2-year post-doc position will be located in Basel, Switzerland, with the possibility to extend up to four years. You can expect that a successful fellowship will result in high quality publications in peer reviewed journals.
