Student internship in targeting engagement biomarker in Basel

The Neuroscience Discovery Group, Basel, Switzerland is using cutting edge genetic, molecular, neurophysiological, and imaging (2-photon, miniaturized microscope) methodologies to understand disease and support drug development efforts in the Neuroscience field. One of the areas of interest in Neuroscience is to get a better understanding of molecular changes associated with Neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism spectrum disorders (ASD) using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hIPSCs) derived neuron models. To this end, using a proteomics approach, we have identified targets of proteins implicated in a monogenetic form of ASD. We are looking for a candidate interested in pursuing research to elucidate the relevance of these targets and their molecular pathophysiology in our human IPSC derived ASD models using a combination of proteomic, biochemical and cell based imaging assays.

• Be a part of a team of scientists and postdocs using imaging, biochemical and cell culture.
• Design, implement and analyze experiments along with lab mates assessing cell morphology and migration.

You are an enrolled Master Student in Natural Science who is looking for a meaningful internship in a professional environment. You are highly self-motivated, passionate about working in a multinational company and you have good self-organisation skills.

• An enthusiastic and critical-thinking scientist who enjoys working independently as well as in a team.
• Experienced in cell culture and imaging methods such as confocal microscopy, biochemical assays such as western blotting and live cell imaging.
• Experience in isolation and characterization of exosomes would be desirable but not necessary.

The preferred start date of the internship is June 2018 or upon availability.
