The Pharmaceutical Development Unit for Parenteral, Topical & Ophthalmic formulation within Technical Research & Development aims to develop innovative technologies for parenteral formulations of small molecules (based on liquid in vial and lyophilisates) and implement novel manufacturing processes related. The suscessful candidate would have a sufficient knowledge and understanding of formulation development and global drug development. He/she would be involved in the development of extended release formulations and nano-systems for drug targeting in oncological/general medicinal therapies. The objective of the current position is to develop and subsequently thoroughly characterize such systems in vitro and in vivo in close collaboration with several partner departments (internaly and externaly) and multidisciplinary teams. These activities include formulation and process optimization up to pilot scale as well as the establishment of characterization and release methods to ensure adequate quality control of the developed formulations using suitable analytical tools e.g., HPLC, UV, particle size analyzing etc.. The research will be performed at the Novartis Basel Headquarter in close collaboration with internal and external scientific experts in multidisciplinary teams.
Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Technology, or related fields in natural sciences with experience in colloidal drug delivery systems like e.g. liposomes or nanoparticles. and/or parenteral extended release formulations. - Experience in topical delivery systems is advantageous. - Global knowledge on parenteral dosage form development and analytics. - Innovative and proactive mindset - Good scientific and communication skills. - Good organization and collaborative skills - Good writing and presentation skills - English mandatory, local language advantageous
