EMPA (European Master of Public Administration Consortium) is a network of European schools, that offer master programs in public administration.
The successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary European project that brings together internationally leading scientists from four different countries (). The aim of the project is to design and fabricate molecular junctions with enhanced ability to convert waste heat to electricity making use of quantum interference.Funding is secured for two years.
Tasks
Design & fabrication of devices using theadvanced nanofabrication facilities available at theBinnig and Rohrer Nanotechnology Center, located at IBM Zurich laboratories and at ETH Zürich
Electrical & thermoelectric characterization of the devices at room and cryogenic temperature
Data analysis and modeling (Ab Initio & DFT calculations experience a plus)
Presentation of results in peer-reviewed scientific journals and at international conferences
Submission of research proposals
Profile
PhD in physics, nanoscience, materials science, or a closely related field
Experience in nanofabrication
Good publication record at PhD/postdoc level
Fluent in English (oral and written)
Highly motivated, critical thinking, open-minded and communicative person, with a strong interest to work in an interdisciplinary research environment
