The Roche Postdoctoral Fellowship (RPF) program is aimed at supporting excellent young scientists focusing on collaborative R&D projects between Roche and international academic institutions. Both internal Roche and academic experts will mentor you, and you will be based mainly at the main Roche campus in Basel, Switzerland.

The Position

We are now looking for an extraordinary, highly motivated, and talented Postdoc to join our international team in an outstanding and competitive scientific environment. The goal of the 2-year Postdoc will be to integrate and analyze multiple large scale data sets using statistical and ML approaches to identify potential treatment opportunities for specific patient populations.

As a postdoctoral fellow your responsibilities will include the following:

  • Identify and apply appropriate analytical methods to ensure fit-for-purpose approaches
  • Apply rigor in study design and analysis plan as well as prepare data and perform data analysis
  • Interpret results, create visualization and generate reports to convey new insights in cancer biology in a way that maximize impact and interpretability
  • Present work internally and at conferences
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues in oncology, both internally and externally
  • Publish in peer-reviewed journals

Ideally you have obtained your PhD within the last four years and have strong verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work independently and innovatively in a fast-paced environment.

If you bring the following as well, we are looking forward to receiving your application:

  • PhD in Computational Biology- or data-related sciences such as Computer Science, Machine Learning, Molecular Biology, Biomedicine, Bioinformatics, Data Science
  • Proficient in analysis and programming skills (e.g. R or Python) is a must
  • Strong analytical skills in statistics, machine learning and predictive modeling to critically evaluate complex scientific data in order to provide recommendations to oncology colleagues
  • Knowledge and experience in cancer genetics/cancer biology is desirable
  • Experience in analysis of large scale genetic data is a plus
  • Experience in analysis of Real World Data is advantageous
  • A creative self-motivated individual with excellent communication skills
