The Laboratory for Mesocopic Systems based at the Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) is a joint laboratory between the ETH Zurich and the Paul Scherrer Institute, which is the largest research centre for the natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland. The current research focus is the investigation of novel magnetic systems at the mesoscopic scale making use of the clean rooms and large-scale facilities at the Paul Scherrer Institute, and fostering the synergies with the Department of Materials (ETH Zurich). We wish to continue our successful research into , which are of high fundamental interest due to the presence of novel topological objects, and are also important for industrial applications such as data storage, motors, sensors and actuators. We are looking for a candidate who will fabricate 3D magnetic systems using electron beam lithography and 3D laser lithography, and characterize the systems using lab-based methods and synchrotron x-rays.
