The Center for Security Studies (CSS) is a center of competence for Swiss and international security policy. It offers security policy expertise in research, teaching, and consultancy. At present, the Center is seeking to hire at least one
Hired for a minimum of six months for an SNF-funded project entitled “Strong Communities, Weak States. Lynching in Latin America”, student researchers will be working for at least 8 hours a week, with a potential to work more hours during semester breaks.
The project focuses on lynching, a process whereby a group of civilians physically (and publically) punishes alleged wrongdoers. Lynch mobs use extreme forms of violence, such as killing through hanging, beating or burning. The student researchers will work within a team alongside Dr Enzo Nussio and Dr Govinda Clayton, focusing on identifying and coding relevant news sources.
