PhD Position in Bioprinting in Zürich

The Tissue Engineering + Biofabrication laboratory in the Departement of Health Sciences & Technology is searching for a PhD student to work in the area of 3D Bioprinting.

Bioprinting has been proposed as a key method for creating realistic cellular architectures for regenerative medicine and in vitro disease models. Our research group is pushing the boundaries of cells and materials to create more realistic tissues with advanced functionality.

The goal of this PhD project is to advance the state of macroporous materials, which can be used in a 3D printer to create large, multi-material complex tissue architectures. In particular, bioinks composed of anisotropic microgels have pseudoplastic and shear recovery properties characteristic of bioinks with excellent 3D extrusion printing properties. The new methodology will be applied to enhance vascularity of engineered tissues.

We are looking for a highly motivated and creative person who enjoys working in a multidisciplinary team. You should have a Master’s degree in material science, biomedical engineering or a related field.The preferred starting date is January 2020.
