The newly founded Media Technology Center is a place where researchers develop the media technologies of tomorrow in collaboration with industry partners. The center will also become a part of an international network of leading researchers in the field of media technology for knowledge exchange. To join our interdisciplinary team, we offer a position as a Research Software Engineer.

Job description

Together with experienced researchers (Postdocs), you will develop software prototypes (research prototypes) for new media technologies, specifically focusing on natural language and machine learning. Your first project will be to develop a Swiss Voice assistant (e.g., a "Swiss Alexa") which will understand and speak Swiss German sentences in dialects. Using state-of-the-art technologies in speech synthesis and speech recognition, you help us tackle the challenge of handling many dialects in Switzerland. You will be responsible for the implementation and testing of state-of-the-art research into software prototypes for the entire system using technologies from natural language processing and deep learning.

Your profile
  • Must hold a master degree or a diploma from a university of applied sciences. Relevant
    fields: computer science, electrical engineering, etc.
  • Experience in deep learning and natural language processing
  • Excellent programming skills in Python and familiarity with Tensorflow/Pytorch
  • Proficiency in written and verbal communication in English.
  • Speaking Swiss German is a plus
