We are seeking a highly committed and knowledgeable professional as Head of Flight Operations Engineering. This position covers an area of high responsibility in a changing, volatile and challenging environment. The Head of Flight Operations Engineering will lead and ensure efficacy of the Flight Operations Engineering department within SWISS. At the same time you will take on the Lufthansa Group wide integration of all group airline Flight Operations Engineering activities under the function Flight Operations Engineering Group Airlines. The group function has a focus on developing and optimizing processes in the above area aiming for a group optimum in the broader area of responsibility.

 

Your duties

  • Lead and support the SWISS Flight Operations Engineering units Performance and Weight and Balance, Operations and Support (Operations Engineers) and Chief Technical Pilot (Technical Pilots).
  • Maintain link for Flight Operations to the Technical Division, maintenance organisations and to aircraft manufacturers in operational and technical matters related to Flight Operations, specifically on management level.
  • Responsible for compliance of aircraft systems and equipment specifications with applicable rules and regulations (e.g. ICAO, EASA Air Operations, FOCA, SWISS) on an operational level.
  • Ensure and supervise appropriate aircraft operating manual (OM B) information and procedures for the crews according to regulatory and SWISS policies, guidelines and requirements in cooperation with the Technical Pilots. Ensure a maximum of harmonization between the different aircraft fleets of SWISS and within the Lufthansa Group.
  • Ensure and supervise that all necessary information of technical/operational nature is communicated to the pilot corps via Info/Bulletins or other appropriate channels for the entire SWISS fleet.
  • Ensure compliance with new requirements according to ICAO, PANS OPS EASA and EU OPS / EASA Air Operations as well as compatibility with CNS/ATM and AGL (ATC, AOC, AAC) user requirements.
  • Responsible for the best possible transition of the divisional SWISS organisation into the matrix structure as per defined assessment criteria.
  • Responsible for developing, harmonizing and optimizing processes in the group function Flight Operations Engineering Group Airlines. This covers maintenance check flight manuals, aircraft delivery, technical approvals and further development of MEL (incl. CDL und AFM, STC, AD) in strong coordination with the CAMO.
  • Development of aircraft and engine specifications in cooperation with the stakeholders.
Your profile
  • BSc/MSc (or similar) in a technical or operational field of study.
  • Solid leadership and management, project management and conflict management training and experience.
  • Proven airline operations or technical experience or experience as a line pilot in an international airline with broad knowledge of company processes.
  • High degree of autonomy and flexibility in a challenging and changing environment during a transition into a matrix organization.
  • Good knowledge of relevant legal requirements (EU/EASA/FAR) and other applicable National legislations of Switzerland and in the area of operation.
  • Good organizational skills and knowledge in the use of standard software as e.g. Microsoft Office, Access, Visio, Outlook.
  • German and English (fluent written and spoken).
  • Experience in the area of aircraft specification processes desirable.
