The Chair of Production and Operations Management (POM) at the Department of Management, Technology, and Economics (D-MTEC) at ETH Zurich is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher.

The Chair of POM at ETH Zurich conducts empirical and innovative POM research with high relevance. Our purpose is to deliver research that matters and teaching that inspires with the determination of developing better operations in industry and society. The current focus areas of the Chair of POM are:

1. Operational Excellence. Lean, quality management, organizational routines, dynamic capabilities, agile, and change management.
2. Smart Manufacturing. Application of digitalization, machine learning, analytics, and other Industry 4.0 technologies in POM. 
3. Global Operations. Configuration, coordination, and improvement of global production networks.
4. Behavioral Operations. The role of the human in POM.

We offer a full-time position with a competitive salary in accordance with . The position will help the candidate advance his/her academic career. The main activity of the job is research, with an emphasis on publishing in top general management, industrial engineering, and POM journals (for example, JOM, POM, M&SOM, Management Science, AMJ, SMJ, etc.). The candidate can expect limited teaching and service duties. There is flexibility concerning the starting date to accommodate the selected candidate’s availability. The contract is limited to 2-6 years. ETH Zurich rules apply.

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a background in operations management, industrial engineering, or general management, who would like to contribute to the Chair of POM. The Chair of POM welcomes applications in related empirical domains (industrial engineering, strategic management, or innovation management) but excluding mathematical modeling/OR.

The successful candidate has a Ph.D. degree from a recognized university (or will be close to completion), strong research and writing skills experience with empirical research, and strong team player skills. Industrial experience is beneficial but not a prerequisite. First-rate oral and written English skills are required. The successful candidate will become part of an ambitious research team offering an excellent research environment. The working language is English.
