Studierende finden an der ETH Zürich ein Umfeld, das eigenständiges Denken fördert, Forschende ein Klima, das zu Spitzenleistungen inspiriert.
A post-doctoral position is available in the group of Prof. Picotti at the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology. The successful candidate will develop approaches to analyze protein structural transitions in situ and on a proteome-wide scale, visualize these transitions, and use data for integrative structural biology.
The Picotti lab exploits a novel, high-throughput approach relying on mass spectrometry to identify protein structural rearrangements on a large scale and directly from biological samples. These data sets are continuously generated in the lab for multiple systems and organisms, including human, under a range of conditions. You will develop approaches for analyzing this dynamic data and derive novel biological insight. Furthermore, you will work on the visualization of this data and its dissemination. You will probe, in a collaborative project with the laboratory of Andrej Sali (UCSD), how dynamic structural data can be used in integrative structural biology efforts.
You will be part of a vibrant and collegial team of scientists working at the cutting-edge of structural proteomics. You will be trained to handle data from cutting-edge targeted and unbiased proteomic technologies based on mass spectrometry, including selected reaction monitoring, data-independent acquisition and shotgun analysis. You will apply bioinformatics approaches to structural systems biology analysis. You will have the opportunity to be involved in cross-disciplinary collaborations and to access state-of the-art facilities.
Applicants should have a solid background in structural bioinformatics, a strong publication record as primary author, a good command of written and spoken English, as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills. Familiarity with large-scale data sets and with proteomic data is preferable but not required. Importantly, you must be able to work independently but also as a part of a team. An interest in technology development as well as systems biology concepts and approaches is highly recommended.
We look forward to receiving your application including a cover letter (explaining your motivation and describing your expertise and how it matches the above requirements), a CV, PDFs of your research papers and contact information for at least three references. Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal. Applications via email or postal services will not be considered.
The position is available immediately. We will invite candidates for an interview within ~1.5 months of this posting.
Further information about the lab can be found on our website . Questions regarding the position should be directed to Dr. Natalie de Souza at desouza@imsb.biol.ethz.ch (no applications).
