Job Description 6000! That’s the number of associates in the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). This division is the innovation engine of Novartis, focusing on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients.
Your task will be to implement the differentiation of human stem cells into neurons. The project will employ a combination of molecular, cell biology and genetic techniques in combination with cell imaging of cultured neurons to validate novel therapeutic targets and to contribute to drug discovery. Motivated individuals who are comfortable working in a dynamic team as well as individually are encouraged to apply.
What you’ll bring to the role: • Hands-on experience with various cell culture techniques • Standard molecular and cell biology techniques (e.g. Western blotting, transfection, cell line engineering, immunocytochemistry, FACS). • Experience in functional cell-based assay development • Experience in compound, viral-mediated gene transfer or si/shRNA/CRISPR technology advantageous • Experience with human stem cells and human neuronal differentiation would be very advantageous
Minimum requirements• MSc in a relevant discipline (Biology, Biomedicine, Biotechnology or similar) • Good written and spoken English • Must be highly motivated, and have a sense of urgency and flexibility; Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
