Research and teaching of the Agricultural Economics and Policy Group, led by Prof. Dr. Robert Finger, is at the interface of agricultural sciences and economics. The group is member of two departments of ETH Zurich: the Department of Management Technology and Economics (D-MTEC) as well as the Department for Environmental System Science (D-USYS). Our teaching is mainly in the Bachelor and Master of the ‘Agricultural Science’ program of ETH Zurich. Our research contributes to more sustainable and resilient farming systems in Europe by focussing on agricultural policy evaluation and design as well as risk and agricultural risk management.

Job description

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher with a background in agricultural economics. The successful candidate will teach at the undergraduate level (in German) and graduate level (in English) in an inspiring teaching environment. Supervision of bachelor and master students is also expected. Teaching and supervision tasks are limited to a level that allows the successful candidate to develop a strong research record in the field of the group’s focus. We are looking for a candidate with strong methodological expertise in one of these fields: econometrics, spatial econometrics, optimization models, agent-based models, surveys, economic experiments.

Your profile

The successful candidate will have a PhD degree (or will be close to completion), strong analytical skills and a background in agricultural economics. Proficient oral and written German and English skills are expected. Experiences in teaching and supervision are a clear plus. The preferred starting date is in September 2020.
