The Laboratory of Toxicology within the Institute of Food Nutrition and Health, Department of Health Sciences and Technology, is offering a PhD position.
The research project involves elucidating mechanisms pertaining to oxidation‐induced mutagenesis and developing new chemical tools related to DNA damage mapping. Broad research objectives of the group are to define relationships between chemical structures, key molecular events, and resulting cellular responses. An opportunity is available to combine biochemistry and chemical biology with the characterization of proteins involved in the recognition and repair of oxidative DNA damage.
The starting date is on 1 October 2020 or an agreed upon date.
A successful applicant will have, or is expect to obtain, an MSc or equivalent in a field of study relevant to the project such as biochemistry, chemical biology, or molecular biology, and experience in protein engineering would be beneficial. Good written and oral communication skills in English, leadership potential, and a motivation to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team are needed.
We look forward to receiving your online application. It should include a cover letter that describes your research experience, scientific and professional/career goals, and an indication on an ideal starting date for you.
