Studierende finden an der ETH Zürich ein Umfeld, das eigenständiges Denken fördert, Forschende ein Klima, das zu Spitzenleistungen inspiriert.
The research activities of the Nanoparticle Systems Engineering Laboratory () are centered on the design and development of nanoparticle-based technologies for healthcare. In our interdisciplinary team, we design materials and develop cutting-edge multiscale analytics in order to rationalize our material and device designs. We work in close collaboration with clinical partners to bring conceptionally novel solutions to clinical application.
We offer a PhD project funded by the Swiss Cancer League (Krebsliga). The objective of the PhD project is to design new theranostic material-based systems for cancer radiotherapy. Multi-element based metal / metal oxide nanohybrid systems featuring optimal radio-enhancement properties will be designed and manufactured. The nanosystem performance will be investigated in advanced biological models where physical, chemical and biological mechanisms will be quantitatively assessed by cutting edge multi-scale multimodal analytics developed by our lab. Simulations as well as experimental approaches will be synergistically combined to optimize the materials design in terms of efficacy and safety.
