Research at the professorship of Computational Social Science (COSS) is focused on:

  1. Bringing modeling and computer simulation of social processes and phenomena together with related empirical, experimental, and data-driven work
  2. Combining the perspectives of different scientific disciplines (e.g. social science, computer science, complexity science and sociophysics)
  3. Bridging fundamental and applied work.

Job description

The candidate will contribute to an ambitious research project that aims to create novel research breakthroughs for efficiency, resilience, and sustainability of participatory smart cities and societies, see . The candidate should perform innovative research at the forefront of at least one of the following areas (please specify):

  1. Large-Scale Multi-Agent Simulations of Cities and Logistics
  2. Agent-Based Modeling with Smart, Learning Agents
  3. Upgrading Smart Cities with Collective Intelligence
  4. Social Lab and Web Experiments
  5. Complexity Science (theoretical and applied)
  6. Data Science and Machine Learning
  7. Evolutionary Game Theory, Mathematical Ecology
Your profile

The candidate should have an excellent research background in computer science, data science, experimental social science, transportation science, and/or traffic or socio-physics, with a strong international publication track record in one of the areas mentioned above. Excellent mathematical and computational skills, English language skills, social skills, and international experience are required.

We also expect the candidate to appreciate collaborating in an interdisciplinary and multicultural team to jointly and systematically address grand scientific challenges.
