Studierende finden an der ETH Zürich ein Umfeld, das eigenständiges Denken fördert, Forschende ein Klima, das zu Spitzenleistungen inspiriert.
A PhD position is available in the Functional Inorganic Material group (KovalenkoLab) at ETH Zurich.
The research activities involve comprehensive characterization of new perovskite-based nanomaterials, in the form of single quantum dots or superlattices, their optoelectronic properties and the development of a new generation of nanomaterial-based nanophotonic devices that operate down to the single photon level.
State-of-the-art optical characterization methods including micro-photoluminescence experiments will be carried out to characterize single quantum dot optical properties and the statistics of the emitted photons. Furthermore, QD assemblies will be explored as novel sources of very high-number photon states.
Candidates should have recently obtained a master degree in chemistry, physics or engineering, with outstanding grades. Candidates should have a strong interest in spectroscopy, semiconductor quantum dots, and have basic knowledge of quantum properties of light. Experience in data analysis (via Matlab, Python, etc.), DFT modelling and/or high programming skills will be beneficial.
Applications including a motivation letter, a CV, 2-3 recommendation letters (preferably sent by the referees), transcripts and any other relevant documents should be sent to:
