Studierende finden an der ETH Zürich ein Umfeld, das eigenständiges Denken fördert, Forschende ein Klima, das zu Spitzenleistungen inspiriert.
The Nanophotonic Systems Laboratory (Pr. Romain Quidant) at ETH Zurich is searching for a postdoctoral researcher for experimental studies on advanced heat control on the microscale and its application to imaging and biotechnology.
Losses in metals have long been considered as a major issue in science and technology, and over the years, disciplines like photonics and electronics have put extensive efforts to reduce their impact on device performances. Here, we embrace a new paradigm, where heat generation in metals becomes an enabling tool, relevant to a wide range of applications rather than a limitation. In this context, we have developed an extensive toolbox to engineer heat generation at the nano- and micro-scale, either optically (Thermoplasmonics) or electrically. We also have the means to accurately probe and image with light, the resulting local temperature landscape. This unique control over local heat generation opens a wealth of new scientific and technological opportunities.
We are searching for a talented postdoctoral researcher to work on the engineering of optical and electrical heat control and their applications to both imaging and biotechnology.
Successful candidates must hold a PhD degree in physics or engineering and have proven track-record in experimental photonics. Experience in nanotechnology, nanofabrication, numerical simulation is beneficial.
We look forward to receiving your online application including a letter of motivation, CV, list of publications and contact details of your referees.
Please note that we exclusively accept applications submitted through our online application portal. Applications via email or postal services will not be considered.
