Presentation
The group of Prof. Niko Geldner is a top research group in plant molecular biology, with a multicultural team of PhDs, post-docs, technicians and Master students; integrated and interacting very closely with the Department of Plant Molecular Biology (DBMV) that counts 7 more research groups and a total of 70 research staff members.
A student assistant position financed by the University of Lausanne is available in the group of Prof. Geldner, in the DBMV. This position is funded as a subsidy to support the return from maternity leave and will bw supervised by the post-doctoral researcher Inês Barbosa.
The candidate will support in routine tasks of molecular biology and genetics for the research projects of Inês Barbosa. More specifically, the candidate will help to generate and maintain plant transgenic and mutant lines (cloning, genotyping, plant care, seed stock, etc) and to characterize these (microscopy, biochemistry and phenotyping). This work will contribute to identify and characterize novel proteins involved in barrier function of root endodermis.

Your qualifications
BSc. degree in biology, biochemistry or related fields. You have fundamental knowledge in genetics and molecular biology. Previous experience working in molecular biology laboratory techniques is desirable (cloning, genotyping and/or qRT-PCR), and preferably in plants.
