Postdoctoral researcher for biomolecular condensates in Zürich

Studierende finden an der ETH Zürich ein Umfeld, das eigenständiges Denken fördert, Forschende ein Klima, das zu Spitzenleistungen inspiriert.

Jobbeschreibung

100%, Zurich, fixed-term

The Biochemical Engineering Laboratory at the Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering is seeking two highly motivated Postdoctoral researchers for biomolecular condensates associated with cellular compartmentalization in functional and dysfunctional biology.

Job description

Within the frame of a European project the candidate will establish, analyse and engineer synthetic models of biomolecular condensates formed by liquid-liquid phase separation of proteins and nucleic acids.

By applying cutting-edge biophysical and biochemical technologies, the candidate will investigate the correlation between phase separation and biochemical reactions occurring within the compartments. Key aspects will be the characterization of the material properties of the condensates and how compartmentalization affects i) enzymatic reactions and ii) amyloid formation.

Your profile

You have a PhD in biophysics, biochemistry, biochemical engineering or a related subject, excellent academic qualifications and strong self-motivation. Previous experience with enzymes or amyloids in a biological context is appreciated.
