inspire AG, which works in close cooperation with ETH Zurich, conducts basic and application-oriented research in many fields of production technology. It is the leading Swiss competence centre for technology transfer to the mechanical, electrical and metal industries in Switzerland. The fields of work range from production machines to manufacturing processes and machine simulation to virtual reality.

Project background
To strengthen the Analysis research group, we are offering this position for young scientists (m/f) as of now or according to agreement. Within the scope of an on-going research project, the motion control of high-precision motion systems is analyzed, and optimized.
Job description

In close contact with our industrial partners, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks in the field of motion control for high-precision motion systems. With the help of accurate sensor technology, modern drive technology and sophisticated algorithms, you will contribute to meet the ever-increasing demands on the productivity and precision of novel production systems.

Specifically, you will start working on a new project on the first-time industrial implementation and further development of recent research results in the field of active vibration damping of high-precision mechatronic systems. If you are interested, the possibility of a doctorate at ETH Zurich can be discussed.

Your profile
  • You have a Master's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
  • You have profound knowledge and experience in the control technology of high-precision mechatronic systems.
  • You are familiar with sensor technology for motion detection in general and acceleration sensor technology in particular.
  • You have basic knowledge in developing and testing algorithms for signal processing.
  • You have a very good level of German and English.
  • You like to work independently and with a high level of personal competence.
  • You enjoy solving difficult problems.
  • You meet the formal criteria for admission to doctoral studies at ETH (only required if you are interested in a PhD).
