Studierende finden an der ETH Zürich ein Umfeld, das eigenständiges Denken fördert, Forschende ein Klima, das zu Spitzenleistungen inspiriert.
The of ETH Zurich invites applications for a postdoctoral associate position to work on the development of new detector technologies in the context of the T2K and Hyper-K neutrino oscillation experiments.
The IPA at ETH Zurich is strongly involved in the R&D of particle detectors for neutrino oscillation and dark matter experiments, thus in the operation of large particle physics experiments, and has a research line devoted to the development of novel photosensors for scintillator-based detectors as well as of new scintillator production methods.
You will focus on the development of new scintillator detector technologies based on novel photosensors, for potential future upgrades of the near detector in long-baseline neutrino oscillation experiments, in the context of the T2K and Hyper-K experiments. You will also actively participate to the T2K and Hyper-K experiments. This position can require international travels and attendance of (online) meetings outside usual working hours. You will be offered an initial 2-year grant which can be potentially extended.
We are looking for outstanding applicants with a PhD in Physics or equivalent. Skills in software (C++, ROOT, Geant4) and detector development are required. Previous experience in scintillator detectors with photosensor readout is desirable.
You should be able to work independently and collaborate in an international team, co-supervise graduate and undergraduate students as well as to participate in teaching in the bachelor and master programmes.
ETH Zurich is a family-friendly employer with excellent working conditions. You can look forward to an exciting working environment, cultural diversity and attractive offers and benefits.
