The pharmacoepidemiology group () led by Prof. Dr. Andrea Burden is opening a PhD position that will be conducted jointly with the hospital pharmacy at the Kantonsspital Baden (KSB) led by Dr. Peter Wiedemeier. The desired starting date is January 2023, however, a different date is negotiable.
The PhD thesis will focus in the area of opioid stewardship within the hospital setting. In the past 10 years, Europe has seen a rise in the use of strong opioids, particularly oxycodone. The PhD position will include pharmacoepidemiology and clinical pharmacy research projects. This will include developing skills in literature review, scientific writing and publishing, biostatistics, data analysis and programming, and survey development. PhD candidates will also have the opportunity to supervise Master student projects and will gain experience in teaching.
For this position, it is required that you have a degree in pharmacy. Initial work experience in a hospital setting is an asset. Fluency in German and English is also required.
As the successful candidate will work one day per week in the hospital setting at the KSB and four days at the ETH, flexibility in working environment, independence, and an ability to prioritize tasks are essential qualities.
We offer working with an exciting interdisciplinary team of highly motivated pharmacoepidemiologists, pharmacists, statisticians, and physicians. The salary will be according to the ETH standards. Participation at national and international conferences is strongly encouraged and supported.
