Jobbeschreibung

Computer Vision and Learning Group (VLG) is a research group within the  of the  at . The VLG group is led by Prof. Dr Siyu Tang.

Our research interest lies in computer vision and its combination with machine learning. We work on discovering and proposing algorithms and implementations for solving high-level visual recognition problems. The goal is to advance the frontier of robust machine perception in real-world settings.
This position will last for three months with the possibility of an extension. The starting date is flexible. You are allowed to work 15 hours per week during the semester.

Project background

For human motion modelling, the key is to capture high-quality data in an efficient way. To this end, we have proposed several methods for markerless motion capture from multiview cameras and would like to deploy these algorithms to a real mocap system e.g. in the IDL lab (). The goal is to capture the high-quality motion of single/multiple people only from cameras. By inviting subjects to the studio and pressing the buttons of the software, we can capture high-quality motion data.
Rather than developing from scratch, you will work based on the existing platforms. Besides technical work, you also need to coordinate with technicians, subjects, etc.

Job description
  • Develop software for a markerless mocap system based on multi-view cameras.
  • If necessary, you will also need to work with a marker-based mocap system (e.g. Vicon mocap) and develop software for it.
  • Deploying our existing methods on these real systems.
  • Help to coordinate experiments with subjects and technicians.
  • Other related works.
Your profile
  • You are a Master’s student in Computer science or in a relevant domain. This position is only valid for registered students.
  • You hold experience in camera calibration, 3D computer vision, human pose estimation, parametric body models, and related virtual human and graphics technologies.
  • Coding skills on Python, C++, etc.
  • Experiences on Vicon, Blender, and other software are plus.
