Studierende finden an der ETH Zürich ein Umfeld, das eigenständiges Denken fördert, Forschende ein Klima, das zu Spitzenleistungen inspiriert.
ETH Zurich is one of the leading universities in the world with a strong focus on science and engineering. In 2010 it established the Singapore-ETH Centre (SEC) in collaboration with the National Research Foundation (NRF) to do interdisciplinary research on pressing problems.
In collaboration with the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC), SEC is undertaking a research programme on "Future Resilient Systems (FRS)". The FRS addresses the challenges with critical infrastructure systems that provide essential services to modern societies, which is of particular importance to innovation-driven economies like Singapore and Switzerland. Within this framework, we are announcing the following job opening.
In the proposed collaborative research programme between SEC and CNRS@CREATE, we want to explore innovative and high-risk methods for redefining the current paradigm in decision-support toward optimal management of infrastructure systems under consideration of uncertainties, while allying physics-based models, data-driven model and solution enrichment, data-assimilation and active learning. This collaboration will be articulated around the research activities under progress in the SEC “Future Resilient Systems” and in the CNRS@CREATE “DesCartes” research programmes.
To support learning, models based on the subjacent physics, at least partially known, will be incorporated in the assessment loo, with a particular focus on the assimilation of advanced model order reduction techniques, in both their intrusive and non-intrusive formulations.
The primary advisor for the SEC-based Postdoctoral position will be Prof. Eleni Chatzi (SEC-ETHZ), with Prof. Francisco Chinesta (SNRS) as co-supervisor. The hired researcher will work with the CNRS-based Postdoctoral position, under the primary supervision of Prof. F. Chinesta. The earliest starting date is April 1st, 2023. Please note that the employment will be at the Singapore-ETH Centre.
