In the frame of a Roche-postdoc fellowship project, a 2-year postdoctoral fellow position is open with immediate effect. You will be employed by ETH and work on dedicated encoding systems and the construction of novel DNA-encoded chemical libraries for screening against relevant target proteins and receptors.

Project background

The DEL technology group is led by Priv-Doz. Dr Jörg Scheuermann at ETH Zürich, Switzerland, is seeking a highly motivated, curious and innovative post-doctoral individual. The position is funded by a collaboration between ETH Zürich and Roche. You will work on DEL of various chemical and encoding designs to find ligands to therapeutically relevant proteins.

Job description

You will:

  • design, synthesize and screen novel DNA-encoded chemical libraries (DELs) against proteins of therapeutic interest.
  • explore and compare different encoding strategies.
  • contribute both experimentally and intellectually to an early drug discovery project by collaborating with teams at ETH Zürich and Roche (Basel).
  • present results at internal and external meeting and in scientific publications.
  • be an active member of the lab organization – mentoring junior colleagues / maintaining equipment.
Your profile
  • you hold a PhD with a strong background in either chemical biology, chemistry, or applied pharmaceutical sciences.
  • you have practical knowledge of DNA-encoded chemical library technology and a strong motivation to explore further the possibilities of DEL technology.
  • you are curious and you have an interdisciplinary mindset.
  • you are interested in working in open and collaborative teams and you possess excellent interpersonal skills.
  • you can adapt to scientific challenges and generate innovative ideas/solutions.
  • you can communicate and clearly present your work in oral and written English.

 additional advantages:

  • you have already constructed and screened DEL(s).
  •  you have experience with dual-display systems and DEL encoding systems.
  •  you have experience with large datasets analysis.
  •  you have prior expertise in drug discovery: identification and characterization of LMW ligands, exploration at the interface between chemistry and biology.
