The Functional Genomics Center Zurich (FGCZ) is an interdisciplinary research and training center of University of Zurich (UZH) and ETH Zurich (ETH). We support life science research with state of the art technologies for genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, and metabolomics as well as by high-end bioinformatics analysis. You will be part of the genomics team that develops and implements latest single cell sequencing methods and strategies, and provides services and training to the research groups of the Zurich and Swiss research community.

Job description

The position is part of the FGCZ Genomics Analytics Unit and will work together with the Senior Spatial Transcriptomics and Senior Single Cell Experts. The responsibilities include supporting spatial transcriptomics and single cell library preparation, project discussions and experiment planning with research groups of ETHZ and UZH, operation of 10X Genomics Cytassist and 10X Genomics Chromium X and training and teaching of PhD students. The applicant is expected to autonomously carry out whole workflows including the described project steps, and to contribute to data interpretation in collaboration with the FGCZ Genome Bioinformatics team.

Your profile

The ideal candidate disposes of a PhD or MS in molecular biology or a related field, has a deep knowledge of cell biology, demonstrated project management and communication skills, plus a keen interest in latest genomics technologies and their application in one of biology’s fastest progressing fields. Practical experience in working in an NGS core facility is an advantage. The successful candidate should be highly team-oriented, highly motivated, flexible, organized, adaptable and thrive in environments with minimal supervision. Advanced knowledge of English is essential, as this is the working language of the center.
