Jobbeschreibung
100%, Zurich, fixed-term
Levitation and control of microscopic objects:
Levitation of microscale objects in high vacuum provides new opportunities for quantum science, sensing, non-equilibrium physics and materials science. This research field capitalizes on the achievements in optomechanics, atomic physics and control theory.
We have openings in the areas of
- Inertial force sensing with levitated particles
- Cavity-mediated entanglement
- Brillouin scattering in levitated materials
- Development of hybrid rf-optical traps
We are looking for curious and motivated PhD students to join our levitodynamics team.
- Physics or engineering background
- Experience with experimental work in particular with lasers and measurement techniques
The successful candidate shares our passion for cutting edge research, brings in his/her motivation and creativity, can clearly communicate, enjoys working closely and respectfully within a team and has experience in laboratories and in data analysis. Prior experience in optics/photonics, atomic physics or optomechanics is highly valued but not mandatory.
We offer
We are a research group at ETH Zürich with extensive expertise in optomechanics, nanophotonics and integrated optoelectronics. During your PhD, you will get exposed to a multitude of technologies including measurement techniques, optics, lasers and vacuum technology.
We look forward to receiving your online application with the following documents:
- CV with named referenced
- Transcripts, publication list and/or list of achievements
