We are seeking a postdoctoral researcher with expertise in microbiome bioinformatics and/or metagenomics to join our team.

Job description

You will join a collaborative team of scientists who develop and use molecular, deep sequencing, and bioinformatics methods to study microbiomes at the interface between foods and human health.

You will develop and utilize multi-omics approaches to study microbiome functional interactions in foods and food systems. This will include use of technologies such as shotgun metagenome sequencing, nanopore or Pacbio sequencing, as well as Illumina marker-gene sequencing to study microbiomes within food systems. You will use and other bioinformatics software for analysis and integration of microbiome datasets together with other data (e.g., enviornmental, metabolomics data, etc). You will design and conduct new studies in addition to analyzing existing sequence datasets.

Your profile

You are passionate about researching microbial ecosystems, DNA sequencing technologies, and bioinformatics! You are thrilled by the scientific process, and wish to apply your skills to study microbial ecosystems in food production. You are skilled in biological data analysis and comfortable working with different types of omics data and microbial bioinformatics techniques. You are familiar with the use of nucleotide sequence data repositories and community metadata standards used in microbiological research.  You like new challenges and learning new techniques and technologies, and are not daunted by the emerging challenges in a dynamic research environment. You like to collaborate with others to bring new ideas and projects to fruition.
