Position Summary  

The Nestlé Product Technology Centre Coffee (NPTC Coffee) is the leading R&D organization that discovers, develops and deploys coffee and beverage products and technologies for in-home and out-of-home consumption. It consists of units in Konolfingen (CH), Marysville (USA), Orbe (CH) and Singapore and provide new products and processes to all Nestlé markets worldwide.

We are looking for a R&D Product Development Intern to strengthen our Powder Creamer Team, located in the Nestlé Research & Development in Konolfingen near Bern. You will be working on the development of new solutions to optimize the powder physical properties for innovation in the powder creamer category.

A Day in the Life of a R&D Product Development Intern

  • Provide support to development projects under the supervision of Product Development Specialists
  • Perform design of experiments to identify powder creamer solution(s) with defined properties  
  • Organize preparation of prototypes as needed to present outcome of developed solutions 
  • Plan, prepare and run kitchen/benchtop/prototyping trials and/or pilot plant trials
  • Organize raw materials, product analytics, release of samples, sensory and keeping quality tests
  • Effectively manage scope changes through proactive and open communication 
  • Anticipate issues and provide alternative solution(s) 
  • Assessment of sustainability impact of solutions being developed with support from project manager  
  • Create synergies through effective networking with all relevant stakeholders within the NPTC as needed for the effective completion of the internship 
  • Close interaction with group team members
  • Document, report and present project results internally to relevant Nestlé colleagues

What will make you successful

  • Bachelor or Master diploma in progress or completed, in the field of Science and Technology/Food Science/food Engineering with a preference for Material sciences, Chemistry, Physics
  • Communication skills and ability to build personal relationships based on trust  
  • Networking capabilities and experience in multidisciplinary teamwork  
  • Strong interest in innovation and a mindset open to taking risks 
  • Fluent in English. German is a strong asset.

At Nestlé Research and Development in Konolfingen near Bern / Switzerland, we develop for Nestlé worldwide, new products, processes and packaging concepts for a broad range of products of our Nutrition, Dairy, Health Science and Coffee businesses. In addition, we also provide technical assistance to our factories.
