The Chair of Infrastructure Management led by Professor Dr. Bryan T. Adey in the Institute of Construction and Infrastructure Management of the Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering has an opening for a student research assistant in our Sustainable Urban Transition Lab.

Sustainable Urban Transition Lab

 at ETH Zurich, we are working with cities to tackle critical urban transport challenges such as tourism seasonality, hybrid work, accessibility, and promoting sustainable travel habits using innovative, data-driven solutions.

Your task would include one or both of the following:

• help us in setting up the data pipeline for a synthetic population and travel demand model using Python (i.e., pandas, NumPy, geopandas, MatplotLib, etc.).
• help us to calibrate the travel demand model of different cities (here, knowledge of Java or any OOB is a plus)

You will collaborate with senior researchers at the lab throughout this process who will provide you with guidance for the implementation, but independent work, in general, is required and appreciated.

The workload consists of up to 15 hours per week during the semester.

We handle working time flexibly so that you can take time to prepare for exams or fulfill other study obligations.

• Current master's student
• Languages: English (Knowledge of Spanish is a plus)
• Very good knowledge of data science and data processing with Python
• Passion for open-science
• Curious, motivated, and autonomous
• Optional: Knowledge of agent-based models (e.g MATSim)
