The Chemical Biology & Therapeutics (CBT) organization in NIBR, Basel, is looking for a talented and motivated recent Masters graduate for a 6-months internship to work on cutting edge methods for epigenetic and chromatin analyses based on ChIP-seq and ATAC-seq.
The successful applicant will be working in the CBT informatics group to implement, explore and extend several publicly available approaches and visualization tools for chromatin analysis. The main aim is to pipeline and modularize downstream analyses after peak calling to maximally impact the epigenetic drug discovery research. Hence, the successful applicant will work on methods to optimize the interpretation of the data such as annotation, clustering and linking chromatin changes to biological pathways and gene signatures. In addition, innovative methods such as 3D chromatin profiling and core transcriptional regulatory circuitries integrating ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and RNA-seq will be explored. The intern will gain insights into cutting edge technologies in omics and will be involved in regular team meetings covering a diversity of computational and biological areas.
Enrolled Master Student or Recent Graduate in Physics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biotechnology or a related field. Excellent oral and written English, any other language considered a plus. • Solid programming skills in R. • Hands-on experience with Linux. • Ability to develop and implement R scripts. • Previous experience with version control (git, bitbucket) is a plus. • Previous experience with Bioconductor packages is a plus. • Previous experience in epigenetics research and analysis is a plus • Ability to work in a team as well as independently. • Good organization and communication skills, flexibility and ability to work with people from different backgrounds (biologist, chemists, computational scientists, drug discovery teams). • Interest in expanding knowledge of biological sciences and desire to learn.
