What You'll Do

• Design and implement a lightweight bytecode-interpreting virtual machine for ARMv8-M microcontrollers
• Integrate the virtual machine into an existing C++-based real-time operating system
• Develop a bytecode compiler to translate high-level logic into executable bytecode
• Define and implement the instruction set architecture and runtime environment
• Implement instruction dispatching and memory management mechanisms
• Prototype and validate execution on embedded hardware platforms
• Evaluate trade-offs between performance, memory footprint, safety, and extensibility
• Explore innovative approaches to enable flexible device commissioning

Who You Are

• Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• Strong interest in embedded systems and low-level software development
• Good programming skills in C/C++
• Interest in interpreters, runtime systems, virtual machines, or compiler design
• Structured, analytical, and solution-oriented mindset
• Ability to work independently on complex technical challenges
• Curious, proactive, and eager to learn new technologies and concepts
